War of the Gods
The Bible for the Next Generation
God (Yahweh) has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment:
“How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked?”
—Psalm 82:1 (ESV)
The Bible tells ONE story.
From Genesis to Revelation, the Bible tells one story.
That one story—Redemptive History—is often summed up as God’s plan to rescue humanity form their sins. But that reduces the Bible to its romantic subplot. The main plot is the war between Yahweh and Satan that ends with Yahweh’s ultimate defeat of evil and the elimination of pain and suffering. Thus, Redemptive History is Yahweh’s plan to free the earth from the curse of death (Heb. 2:14; Rom. 8:21), and redeem all creation from the abuse of the lesser gods (1 John 3:8, Ps. 82:6-8).

The Story behind the War of the Gods
In 2004, JC started studying the Bible to ensure accuracy in her Biblical fiction series, Prophecy of the Heir. This journey unexpectedly led to a career in Biblical studies with JC devoting nearly two decades to exploring the cultural background of the Bible including ancient near eastern culture and Second Temple Judaism. Having previous studied film structure and plot, she then applied herself to the craft of novel writing. Putting herself into the mind of her villain, JC examined Satan’s ultimate goal and end game, and the motives and justifications behind his machinations over the millennia. Realizing that Redemptive History showcased the war maneuvers between Yahweh and Satan, JC then assigned US military terms to each one as an intriguing way of demonstrating the war to the next generation.
